Girls Circle

Tidewater Youth Services Foundation works closely with our public partner to offer Girls Circle.  Girls Circle, cited as a “Promising Approach” in the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention’s Model Program Guide, is a strengths-based support group designed to counteract the social and interpersonal forces that impede girls’ growth and development.  This service has been used since 1994 in a broad spectrum of settings with diverse female populations.

Tidewater Youth Services Commission has conducted Girls Circle for several years for girls referred by our partners in the juvenile justice system and departments of social services.  Now, thanks to a grant from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, we are able to expand the service to other groups in the community that serve girls, aged 9-18.  This service is conducted by trained group facilitators and is offered free of charge.
